Masʾalah fī al-Murābaṭah wa-al-Mujāwarah - Ibn Taimiya - (52)

“You will soon be formed into battalions: a battalion in al-Sham, a battalion in Yemen, and a battalion in Iraq.” I said, “O Messenger of Allah, choose for me.”
He replied, “Stay in al-Sham, for it is Allah’s chosen land; to it He draws the elect of His servants. Whoever refuses should go to Yemen and drink from its cisterns⦗1⦘, for Allah has pledged His protection for al-Sham and its people.”

Al-Hāwali commented, “Whoever is guaranteed by Allah will never be lost.”

118 – It is also recorded in Sunan Abi Dawud⦗2⦘, on the authority of Abdullah ibn Amr, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “There will be a migration after another migration. The best people on earth will be those who keep to Abraham’s place of migration, while the worst of its inhabitants will remain; their land will cast them out, the soul of the Most Merciful detests them⦗3⦘, and the Fire will gather them with the apes and the swine.”

(1) The base manuscript reads “ʿaduwwahu” (“his enemy”); the preferred reading adopted here follows the hadith-verification sources. (2) Related by Abu Dawud (no. 2482), Ahmad (2/84, 198, 209), and al-Hakim (4/565), who declared it “sound according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs.” Ibn Hajar adds: “Ahmad also transmits it with a chain that is acceptable” (Fath al-Bari, 11/380). – “Muhajir Ibrahim”: with a fathah on the jim; it designates al-Sham (Greater Syria). – “Talfazuhum”: with a kasrah on the fa, meaning “to hurl or cast them away”; the verb lafaza is used for tossing something aside. – “Taqdharuhum”: with a fathah on the dhal, meaning “to find them repugnant.” Source: Awn al-Maʿbud, 7/158. (3) The manuscript wrongly reads: “yalfazuhum aw tayʾuhum liqadrihim”; this is a clear scribal error.

"إنكم ستجندون أجنادا جندا بالشام وجندا باليمن وجندا بالعراق " قال فقلت يا رسول الله: خر لي؟. فقال: "عليك بالشام فإنها خيرة الله من أرضه يجتبي إليها خيرته من عباده، فمن أبى فليلحق بيمنه وليسق من غدره١ فإن الله قد تكفل لي بالشام وأهله". قال الحوالي: ومن يتكفل الله به فلا ضيعة عليه. ١١٨- وفي "سنن أبي داود"٢ أيضا عن عبد الله بن عمرو عن النبي ﷺ أنه قال: "إنه ستكون هجرة بعد هجرة فخيار أهل الأرض ألزمهم مهاجر إبراهيم، ويبقى في الأرض شرار أهلها تلفظهم أرضوهم، تقذرهم٣ نفس الرحمن، وتحشرهم النار مع القردة والخنازير".

"مهاجر ابراهيم": بفتح الجيم وهو الشام "تلفظهم" بكسر الفاء أي تقذفهم وترميهم، يقال: قد لفظ الشيء لفظا إذا رماه. "تقذرهم": بفتح الذال المعجمة أي تكرههم. "عون المعبود" (٧/١٥٨) . ٣ في الأصل: "يلفظهم أو طيؤهم لقدرهم" وهو تصحيف!!
