of Muhammad did not regard the abandonment of any act as disbelief except the prayer.”
68- Al-Bukhārī1 reports that when ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb was stabbed and lost consciousness, someone said, “The prayer!” He replied, “Yes. Whoever abandons the prayer has no share in Islam.”
He explicitly applied the charge of disbelief to the one who rejects the prayer.2
69- It is likewise narrated from more than one Companion and Successor that they declared: whoever abandons the prayer has fallen into disbelief.3
70- This distinctive feature4 of the prayer requires that it be included in the Prophet’s words: “faith in Allah, striving in His cause, and then a pilgrimage that is accepted.”

73- And in His saying: “Your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him and that you show kindness to parents” (17:23).
