in his disbelief and will-filled denial, until the rān (spiritual rust) reaches those very veils that Allah, exalted be He, places upon hearts. This is not because Allah forced or compelled them; it is a consequence of their own earning and their own choice. Such is the universal decree that these unbelievers draw upon themselves. They arrive at a state which the ignorant assume was imposed on them, whereas in truth it was never imposed—​it is solely what their own hands have brought about. And Allah is never unjust to His servants.
