The number of “books” (kitāb-chapters) in Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī is ninety-seven, and—counting every repeated appearance—the collection comprises 7,563 hadiths according to the numbering system of Shaykh Muḥammad Fuʾād ʿAbd al-Bāqī. Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī also contains twenty-two hadiths whose chains of transmission are only three narrators long.
