…by granting them assistance and guidance; for He made their guidance clear by sending the messengers and revealing the scriptures, and He enabled them—both in knowledge and in practice—to follow that guidance. Likewise, He bestowed His favor on them and on the rest of creation by bringing them into existence, providing for them, and granting them good health. He has also favored most people by making them recognize His lordship and their need of Him; He grants them what they ask and answers their prayers. The Exalted says: “Everyone in the heavens and on earth asks Him; every day He is engaged in some affair” (Q 55:29). Thus, all the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth petition Him, and the human ranks become four:

1. A people who neither worship Him nor seek His help, even though He has created them, provided for them, and kept them safe.
2. A people who seek His help, so He helps them, yet they do not worship Him.
3. A people who strive to worship and obey Him but do not seek His help or place their trust in Him.
4. And the fourth group: those who worship Him and seek His help, so He empowers them to worship and obey Him. These are the ones who believe and do righteous deeds. Concerning what He has singled out for the believers, the Most High says: “He has made faith beloved to you and adorned it within your hearts…”
