In Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim and other collections, it is narrated from Suhayb that the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said: “When the people of Paradise have entered it, a herald will call out, ‘O people of Paradise! You have an appointment with Allah that He wishes to honor for you.’ They will reply, ‘What is it? Has He not already brightened our faces, admitted us to Paradise, and delivered us from the Fire?’” He continued, “Then the veil will be lifted and they will gaze upon Him—Glorified be He. Nothing they are given will be more beloved to them than looking at Him.” This is the “extra reward” (al-ziyādah).
Thus the Prophet—peace be upon him—made it clear that even though the people of Paradise enjoy every conceivable bliss that Allah has granted them there, nothing He gives them is dearer to them than gazing upon Him. It is dearer because their delight and pleasure in Him surpass every other delight and pleasure. Pleasure follows one’s awareness of the beloved: the more a thing is loved, the sweeter it is when attained and the greater the enjoyment it brings. It has also been reported that Friday is the Day of Increase—that is, the Friday among the days of the Hereafter—
