The second ḥadīth:
ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them) said, “On the day of ʿEid the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would set out early for the prayer-ground, and an ʿanaza¹ was carried before him. When he reached the place of prayer it would be planted in front of him and he would pray facing it, for the prayer-ground was an open expanse with nothing he could use as a screen.”
Reported by al-Bukhārī 1/354; Muslim 2/55; Abū Dāwūd 1/109; al-Nasāʾī 1/232; Ibn Mājah 1/392; and Aḥmad, no. 6296. The wording is Ibn Mājah’s, which is the fullest, and its chain is sound. It was also narrated by al-Mahamili 2, nos. 26-36; Abū al-Qāsim al-Shahhāmī in Tuhfat al-ʿĪd, nos. 14-16 (from my son’s handwritten copy); and al-Bayhaqī 3/284-285.
The third ḥadīth:
Al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib said, “The Prophet ﷺ went out on the Day of Adḥā to …”
