This present epistle seeks to establish that:
Performing the two ‘Eid prayers in the outdoor prayer-ground outside the town is the Sunnah.
I had originally considered making it a comprehensive treatise on all the rulings of the ‘Eid prayers, along the lines of my booklet “Salat al-Tarawih.”
(1) Our hadith teacher, Shaykh Nasir al-Din al-Albani, had originally prefaced this treatise with a response to the pamphlet "Al-Isabah", exposing its ignorance, misguidance, and slanders against the adherents of the sunnah, and with remarks on salat al-tarawih, insisting that it consists of eleven rakahs. In this edition we have confined ourselves to the section concerning the two Eid prayers performed in the open musalla. — Zuhayr

وبه نستعين
الحمد لله وحده وصلاته وسلامه على نبينا محمد وآله وصحبه وعلى من تمسك بهديه واستقام على طريقته إلى يوم الدين١.
أما بعد:
فهذه رسالتنا اليوم وموضوعها إثبات أن:
صلاة العيدين في المصلى خارج البلد هي السنة
وقد كنت فكرت في أن اجعلها رسالة جامعة لأحكام صلاة العيدين على نحو رسالة "صلاة التراويح "
١ كان استاذنا المحدث الشيخ ناصر الدين الألباني قد قدم لهذه الرسالة بكلام يتعلق بالرد علي رسالة "الاصابة" وما فيها من جهل وضلالات وافتراءات علي اتباع السنة. وعن صلاة التراويح وانها احدى عشر ركعة. وقد اقتصرنا علي الموضوع الخاص بصلاة العيدين في المصلي. "زهير.
