What is even more astonishing is that some forgers—people who lie against the Messenger of Allah ﷺ—have fabricated ḥadīths that urge people to hold fast to the Sunnah. They argue, “We have not lied about the Messenger ﷺ; rather, we lied for him.” Yet the Messenger ﷺ proclaims, “Whoever lies about me, let him take his seat in the Fire.” 1 Their claim that they merely lied for him is nothing but a distortion of words from their proper place, for you have attributed to the Messenger ﷺ what he never said, and that is manifestly lying about him. Besides, the authentic Sunnah is more than sufficient, rendering your fabrications entirely unnecessary.
