…and if Allah cares for a person in this world and the next, no harm can reach him—neither in his religion nor in his worldly life. The Exalted says: “Allah is the Protector of those who believe; He brings them out of layers of darkness into light, whereas those who disbelieve—their protectors are the false deities” (al-Baqarah 2:257). When Allah is your Guardian, He leads you out of the darknesses of shirk, unbelief, doubts and atheism into the light of faith, beneficial knowledge and righteous action: “That is because Allah is the Patron of those who believe, while the disbelievers have no patron” (Muhammad 47:11). Accordingly, if Allah watches over you, granting success and guidance in both worlds, you attain a happiness that will never be followed by misery. In this life He guides you, grants you success and keeps you on the sound path; in the Hereafter He admits you to His Paradise, to remain there forever, free of fear, illness, hardship, distress or any unpleasantness. This is Allah’s patronage of His believing servant here and hereafter. Ibn al-Qayyim said: If someone is cared for by a human being among creation, The One of tremendous majesty cares for him. He (the supplicant) then said: “and that He make you blessed wherever you may be.” If Allah makes you a source of blessing wherever you are, that is the loftiest goal: He places blessing in your lifespan, in your provision, in your knowledge, in your deeds and in your offspring—wherever you go, blessing accompanies you. This is immense good and a favor from Allah. He also said: “and that He make you among those who, when given, give thanks,” unlike those who, when granted a favor, deny and abuse it. Many people, when blessed, reject the favor and squander it in disobedience to Allah, turning it into a cause of their own misery. But whoever is grateful, Allah increases him, as He said: “And when your Lord proclaimed: ‘If you…"
