Sunnat al-Jumu'aIbn Taimiya

He—may Allah have mercy on him—replied:

All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds. As for the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—he never performed any prayer after the adhān on Friday, and no one has ever transmitted such a practice from him. During his lifetime the adhān was not called until he had already taken his seat upon the pulpit. Bilāl would then pronounce the adhān, after which the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—would deliver the two sermons. Bilāl would next give the iqāmah, and the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—would lead the people in prayer.
