Sujūd al-TilāwahIbn Taimiya

and Ḥā Mīm Tanzīl (Fussilat) contains an explicit command:

“Among His signs are the night and the day, the sun and the moon. Do not prostrate yourselves to the sun or the moon; rather, prostrate yourselves to Allah who created them, if it is Him you truly worship. But if they grow arrogant, those who are with your Lord glorify Him night and day and never grow weary.” ⦗41:37–38⦘

Likewise, an-Najm gives a clear order:

“So prostrate to Allah and worship.” ⦗53:62⦘

Al-Inshiqāq also issues an explicit command when the Quran is recited:

“What is the matter with them that they do not believe? And when the Quran is recited to them they do not prostrate?” ⦗84:20–21⦘

And the opening words, “Recite in the name of your Lord who created” ⦗96:1⦘, are followed by an unrestricted command:

“Prostrate and draw near.” ⦗96:19⦘

Thus, the first six passages—up to the first sajdah in al-Ḥajj—are statements of praise, whereas the remaining nine—beginning with the second sajdah in al-Ḥajj—are imperatives coupled with censure for those who do not prostrate, the sole exception being the sajdah in Sād.
