the greatest hallmarks of Islam; it is the universal rite observed in every land, and the act of sacrifice is paired with the Prayer in His statement,
"Indeed, my prayer, my sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds" (al-Anʿām 6:162).
The Exalted also says,
"So pray to your Lord and sacrifice" (al-Kawthar 108:2),
thereby commanding slaughter just as He commanded prayer.
He further states,
"For every community We have appointed a ritual so that they may pronounce the name of Allah over the livestock He has provided for them. Your God is One God, so submit to Him, and give glad tidings to the humble" (al-Ḥajj 22:34),
and He says,
"The sacrificial camels We have made for you among the symbols of Allah; in them there is much good for you. So mention the name of Allah over them while they are standing in rows, and when their sides collapse, eat of them and feed the self-restrained needy and the one who asks. Thus have We subjected them to you so that you may give thanks. Their flesh and their blood will never reach Allah—"
