Chapter: Game of the Sacred Precinct 1

Hunting within the Sacred Precinct (ḥaram) is forbidden for both the pilgrim in the state of consecration (muḥrim) and the non-pilgrim. Any game taken there is treated exactly like game taken by a muḥrim, and the muḥrim is not required to pay two separate compensations. It is likewise unlawful to cut its trees or its green vegetation—the “two greens”—except for the idhkhir grass.

Hunting in the Sanctuary of Medina is also prohibited, though no compensation is due for it. Its herbage may be gathered for fodder or for making agricultural tools and the like, and its sacred limits run from Mount ʿAyr to Mount Thawr.
