One-sixth is allotted to one or more granddaughters through a son when a (full) daughter is present, and to one or more paternal sisters when a full sister is present, provided that in neither case is there a male who would make them residuaries.
If the two-thirds quota has already been completed by daughters—whether by them alone or together with granddaughters—any female descendants beneath them are excluded, unless a male of their own generation or a lower generation turns them into residuaries. The same applies to paternal sisters in the presence of full sisters, so long as no full brother agnates them.
One or more sisters inherit whatever remains after the daughter has received her fixed share. A single uterine brother or sister receives one-sixth, while two or more share one-third equally.
Section on exclusion (ḥajb)
Grandfathers are excluded by the father, and a more remote ancestor by a nearer one; grandmothers are excluded by the mother; grandsons through a son are excluded by the son; full siblings are excluded by a son, a son’s son, or the father; paternal siblings are excluded by all of those and by a full brother; uterine siblings are excluded by a child, a grandson through a son, the father, or the grandfather, and the father likewise bars every nephew and paternal uncle.
