Sixth: The price must be received in full, with its amount and description precisely known, before the two parties part company. If only part is taken and they separate, the contract is void regarding whatever remains unpaid. A salam that involves one commodity with two separate due dates—or, conversely, two commodities with a single due date—is valid so long as the agreement specifies the price of each commodity and the portion assigned to each term.
Seventh: The salam must relate to goods owed in the seller’s liability, not to a specific identified item. Delivery is required at the place where the contract is concluded, although the parties may validly stipulate another location; whether they contract on land or at sea, they may set whichever place they wish. Before the buyer takes possession, the commodity purchased on salam may not be sold, gifted, transferred as a debt—whether for or against the buyer—nor may a substitute be taken in its stead. Likewise, no pledge or guarantor is valid in respect of it.
