Chapter on Missing the Standing and on Being Prevented
Whoever fails to stand at ʿArafah has missed the Hajj; he ends his consecration with an ʿumrah, must perform the Hajj later as make-up, and is required to present a sacrificial offering—unless he had already set a condition.1
If an enemy blocks him from reaching the Sacred House, he offers the sacrificial animal and then leaves the state of iḥrām. If he cannot obtain one, he fasts ten days and then releases himself. Should he be prevented from reaching ʿArafah, he terminates his consecration by performing an ʿumrah. If sickness—or the loss of funds—confines him, he remains in iḥrām unless he had made that prior stipulation.
(1) Manuscript M reads: “he stipulated it.”
