Some of them even said, “This is nothing but human speech.”¹ Allah, exalted be He, replied, “I shall cast him into Saqar.”² By these words they could only have been referring to this very noble Book.
Furthermore, they demanded that it be replaced. Allah ﷻ has said: “When Our clear revelations are recited to them, those who do not hope to meet Us say, ‘Bring a Qur’an other than this, or change it.’”³ Did they really expect someone to alter what lies within the Essence of the Creator—something of which they have no knowledge and no comprehension whatsoever? How could they have known that what is with Allah is called Qur’an, and by what means could such knowledge have reached them when the very person who uttered this demand had not even been created yet?
The verses proving that the Qur’an is this Arabic Book are many indeed. Whoever fails to benefit from the proofs we have already presented will never benefit from any proof at all.
