The scholars spoke highly of al-Muwaffaq’s learning,1 to the extent that Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy on him, said, “Since the time of al-Awzaʿi, no one more proficient in jurisprudence has entered Syria than al-Muwaffaq.”2
Sixth: His Passing
Shaykh al-Islam Muwaffaq al-Dīn, may Allah have mercy on him, died on a Saturday that coincided with the day of ʿĪd al-Fiṭr, in the year 620 AH.

وقد أثنى العلماء على الموفق في علمه خيرا١، حتى قال شيخ الإسلام بن تيمية ﵀: "ما دخل الشام بعد الأوزاعي أفقه من الموفق".٢
سادسا: وفاته:
توفي شيخ الإسلام موفق الدين، ﵀-يوم السبت-وكان يوم عيد الفطر-سنة ٦٢٠٠.
