Fifth: His works:
Ibn Qudamah—may Allah have mercy on him—left behind a large body of writing. Some of his books deal with tawḥīd (monotheism) and its various questions; others concern jurisprudence, the principles of jurisprudence, or matters of piety and heart-softening exhortations, along with additional subjects. Below is a selection of these titles, arranged alphabetically:
• al-Istibṣār fī nasab al-ṣaḥābah min al-Anṣār (Insight into the Lineage of the Companions from the Anṣār).
• al-Burhān fī bayān al-Qurʾān (The Proof in Clarifying the Qurʾān).
• al-Tabyīn fī ansāb al-Qurashiyyīn (Elucidation of the Lineages of the Quraysh).
• Taḥrīm al-naẓar fī kutub al-kalām, a refutation of Ibn ʿAqīl (The Prohibition of Consulting the Works of Speculative Theology).
• Ḥikāyat al-munāẓarah fī al-Qurʾān maʿa baʿḍ ahl al-bidʿah (An Account of a Debate on the Qurʾān with Certain Innovators).
• Dhamm al-taʾwīl (The Censure of Figurative Interpretation).
• Dhamm al-waswās (The Censure of Obsessive Whisperings).
• Dhamm mā ʿalayhi muddʿū al-taṣawwuf, a legal opinion condemning the reed-flute and dancing (The Censure of the Practices of Those Who Claim Sufism).
