—for the second prayer,1 and that the excuse continue only until the time of the second prayer actually begins.
Uniformity between the imam and the followers is not a condition for validity. Accordingly, if the two prayers are offered behind two different imams; or he leads one follower in the first prayer and another in the second; or he prays behind an imam who is not combining; or he performs one of the two prayers alone and the other2 in congregation; or he leads worshippers who themselves are not combining, the combination remains valid.
