from the thighs, and the thighs from the shanks;
• keeping the knees slightly apart;
• setting the feet upright and resting the pads of the toes on the ground, the toes spread;
• placing the hands level with the shoulders, palms flat and the fingers held together1;
• raising the hands first when rising to stand for the next rak‘ah;
• standing up by pushing off the balls of the feet and leaning the hands on the knees;
• sitting in the iftirāsh posture between the two prostrations and during the first tashahhud, and sitting in the tawarruk posture during the second;
• placing the hands on the thighs, palms flat and fingers together, between the two prostrations—and likewise in the tashahhud—except that, with the right hand, he curls the little and ring fingers, touches the thumb to the middle finger, and points with the index finger whenever Allah is mentioned;
• turning the head to the right and then to the left when pronouncing the salām, intending thereby to exit the prayer, and turning a little farther to the left than to the right2.
