It is sunnah to proclaim the marriage publicly and for women to beat a frame drum that has no metal rings or cymbals1 on this occasion; for men, doing so is disliked2.
There is no harm in reciting love poetry at the wedding.
Beating the frame drum at a circumcision or to celebrate the return of someone who has been away carries the same ruling as at a wedding.
(1) al-sunuj are the small round brass or copper cymbals fixed to a daff (tambourine). See al-Lubadi, Hashiya, p. 311.
(2) Al-Furu‘, 5 / 310: the plain sense of Ahmad’s texts and of the later Hanbali jurists indicates that one must distribute equally.
