The sunna acts include: spending the night at Mina on the eve of ʿArafah; the Arrival Tawaf; performing the brisk walk (raml) in the first three circuits of it and exposing the right shoulder (idtibāʿ) during them; for a man, upon entering ihram, to remove all stitched clothing and don an unsewn waist-wrapper and cloak—both white and clean; and chanting the talbiyah from the moment he enters ihram until he begins the first stoning.
Whoever omits a pillar, his hajj is not complete until he performs it; whoever neglects an obligation must offer a sacrificial animal, though his hajj remains valid; and whoever leaves a sunna act incurs no penalty.

The conditions for a valid tawaf are eleven: intention; being Muslim; sound mind; that its time has begun2; covering the nakedness; avoidance of physical impurity; ritual purity from minor and major states; completing seven circuits; keeping the House on one’s left; walking if able; and continuity.
Should he fall into ritual impurity during tawaf, he must restart it, and the same applies to a prolonged interruption3. If the break is brief, or the congregational prayer is commenced, or a funeral arrives, he prays and then resumes from the Black Stone.
Its recommended acts are: touching the Yemeni Corner with the right hand4, likewise the Black Stone, kissing it, and supplicating; engaging in remembrance of Allah and staying close to the House5; and performing two rakʿahs afterwards.
