If he cannot obtain it, he must fast ten days: three during the pilgrimage and seven when he returns home.
In ʿumrah, if it is invalidated before the saʿy is completed, the compensation is one sheep.
The first release from ihram is achieved by any two of the following three acts: casting the pebbles, shaving (or cutting the hair), and performing tawaf; after that, everything becomes permissible to him except intimacy with women. The second release is secured by performing whatever of those acts remains, together with the saʿy, provided he had not already done the saʿy.

Game whose penalty has a counterpart from domestic livestock⦗1⦘ is treated as follows: for an ostrich the fidya is a camel (badana)⦗2⦘; for a wild ass or wild cattle, a cow; for a hyena, a ram; for a gazelle, a sheep; for a hyrax or a spiny-tailed lizard, a six-month-old kid; for a jerboa, a jifra—namely a four-month-old young goat; for a rabbit, an ʿināq, a young female goat slightly smaller than a jifra. For a pigeon—which comprises every bird that sips⦗3⦘ water and coos, such as the sand-grouse, the warsh⦗4⦘, and the wood-pigeon—the compensation is a sheep. Any quarry that has no livestock equivalent, such as geese⦗5⦘, the bustard, the partridge, or the crane, requires the payment of its market value at the place where it was taken.
