He also said, “Allah chose Quraysh from the descendants of Kinānah, chose the Banū Hāshim from Quraysh, and chose me from the Banū Hāshim.” 1
It is likewise narrated that he said, “Love Allah for the blessings with which He nourishes you; love me for the sake of Allah; and love my household for my sake.” 2
This is an expansive subject, and a thorough discussion of it would be lengthy.
(1) First hadith: “Verily, Allah chose from the descendants of Ibrahim (Abraham) Ismail (Ishmael); He chose from the descendants of Ismail the tribe of Kinana; and from the tribe of Kinana He chose Quraysh ….” It is narrated by Muslim, Sahih, Book of Virtues, hadith no. 1; by al-Tirmidhi, al-Manaqib, ch. 1; and by Imam Ahmad, Musnad, 4/107. Al-Suyuti also cites it in al-Jami al-Saghir, no. 1683, attributing it to al-Tirmidhi through Waʾila ibn al-Asqaʿ. Both al-Suyuti and al-Tirmidhi grade the report sahih (authentic).
(2) Reported by al-Tirmidhi in al-Manaqib and by al-Hakim in his Mustadrak (section: Virtues of Ahl al-Bayt); both declared it sahih, a judgment with which al-Dhahabi agreed in al-Talkhis. Al-Suyuti includes it in al-Jami al-Saghir, no. 224, attributing it to al-Tirmidhi and al-Hakim and marking it authentic.
وقال: "إن الله اصطفى قريشا من بني كنانة, اصطفى بني هاشم من قريش, واصطفاني من بني هاشم" ١.
وروي أنه قال: "أحبوا الله لما يغذوكم به من نعمة, وأحبوني لحب الله, وأحبوا أهل بيتي لحبي" ٢.
وهذا باب واسع يطول القول فيه.
١-أول حديث: " إن الله تعالى اصطفى من ولد إبراهيم إسماعيل, واصطفى من ولد إسماعيل بني كنانة, واصطفى من بني كنانة قريشا" ...
أخرجه مسلم في صحيحه كتاب الفضائل حديث رقم ١. والترمذي في المناقب باب١. والإمام أحمد في المسند ٤/١٠٧ وأورده السيوطي في الجامع الصغير حديث رقم ١٦٨٣ وعزاه إلى الترمذي عن وائلة بن الأسقع وصححه وقال الترمذي: حيث صحيح".
٢-أخرجه الترمذي في لمناقب, والحاكم في مستدركه في فضائل أهل البيت, وصححه كل منها, وأقره الذهبي في التلخيص. وأورده السيوطي في الجامع الصغير حديث رقم ٢٢٤ وعزاه إلى الترمذي والحاكم, ورمز له بالصحة.
