“No one transmits anything from him except Murthad al-Muzanī, and even this single report was not authenticated by ʿAbd al-Ḥaqq.”
Ibn al-Madīnī said, “He is unknown; I do not know him.”
Ibn Khuzaymah likewise stated, “I do not know him.”
Although Ibn Ḥajar, when citing al-ʿAjlī’s endorsement of the man in al-Tahdhīb, recorded that testimony, he did not adopt it in al-Taqrīb, where he simply described him as “mastūr” (of concealed or unknown reliability).
For this reason al-Khattābī graded the ḥadīth weak in al-Maʿālim, saying, “It is not strong, and in its chain is a transmitter who is not well-known.”
Even so, the report is reinforced by the preceding narration and by the ḥadīth of Anas to which I referred a moment ago.
