Tamam al-MinnahNasir al-Din al-Albani

that he came across the report in the Sahih of Ibn Khuzaymah, 1464, and assumed that every narration in that compilation is authentic. Yet this was not Ibn Khuzaymah’s own view, for he often cites a hadith in its chapter heading, openly points out its defect, and expresses doubt about its soundness. He did just that with the present tradition, saying in the course of his discussion of it (3/359):
“If the report is authentic, I am unaware of any verdict—whether for or against—the reliability of Iyas ibn Abi Ramlah.”
Nevertheless, the hadith is sound by virtue of the corroborating chains that will appear later in the book. It was authenticated by Ibn al-Madini, al-Hakim, and al-Dhahabi, and it is also presented in Sahih Abi Dawud, 983–984.
