And among the reports for Friday:
His statement under no. 3: “Increase your invocation of blessings upon me on Friday and on the night preceding Friday.”
I say: He mentioned the ḥadīth but neither produced its chain nor indicated its grade. Ibn ʿAdī and al-Bayhaqī have transmitted it from Anas; it is also related from Ibn ʿUmar; and it appears as a mursal report from Ṣafwān ibn Salīm. When all these routes are combined, it is ḥasan, as I clarified in al-Ṣaḥīḥah 1407. It is ṣaḥīḥ without the phrase “the night preceding Friday,” on the strength of the ḥadīth of Aws immediately before it, which is documented in the same source under no. 1527.
His statement under no. 4: “From Ibn ʿUmar, that the Prophet ﷺ said: ‘Whoever recites Sūrah al-Kahf on the day of Friday, a light will shine for him from beneath his feet up to the heavens, illuminating him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will be forgiven the sins committed between the two Fridays.’ It was reported by Ibn Mardūyah with a chain that is not objectionable.”
I say: This is how al-Mundhirī described it in al-Targhīb 1/261, but it is refuted by the statement of the ḥāfiẓ Ibn Kathīr in his Tafsīr 1/70: “Its chain is gharīb (singular).”
I add: The weakness lies in the presence of Khālid ibn Saʿīd ibn Abī Maryam, whose reliability is unknown. In al-Tahdhīb, after citing Ibn Ḥibbān’s inclusion of him among the trustworthy, it states:
