Among the supplications prescribed for travel is his statement:

3. From Ibn ʿAbbās: Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ intended to depart on a journey he would say, “O Allah, You are the Companion on the journey and the Successor over the family. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from al-ḍabnah1 ….” It was narrated by Aḥmad, al-Ṭabarānī, and al-Bazzār with a chain whose transmitters are those found in the Ṣaḥīḥ collections.

I say: All of them related it through the route of Simāk from ʿIkrimah from Ibn ʿAbbās. Al-Bazzār remarked, “We do not know it transmitted with this wording except through Simāk from ʿIkrimah from Ibn ʿAbbās.”

I say: Simāk—namely Ibn Ḥarb—is reliable and is included among the narrators of Muslim, yet his narrations specifically from ʿIkrimah are irregular, and he experienced confusion toward the end of his life, as noted in al-Taqrīb. Hence, the chain is weak. The report appears in Aḥmad 1/256 and 300, al-Bazzār 4/33, al-Ṭabarānī 11/280/11735, and likewise in Ibn Abī Shaybah 10/358 and 360; nevertheless, most of its content is sound when corroborated by the preceding narration.
