Concerning travel on Friday he cites a report: “From ʿUmar: ‘Friday does not prevent one from setting out on a journey’; another from Abū ʿUbaydah that he travelled on a Friday; and a narration from al-Zuhrī that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ travelled on a Friday.”
I say: Ibn Abī Shaybah recorded all of them (2/105–106), as did ʿAbd al-Razzāq (3/250–251). The report from ʿUmar comes by two routes, one of which is sound, and I have documented it in al-Daʿīfah under hadith 219. The report from Abū ʿUbaydah is disconnected, and the narration from al-Zuhrī is interrupted (mursal). Its meaning, however, is valid so long as the traveller has not yet heard the call to prayer; once he hears it, attendance becomes obligatory. Allah knows best.
