Among the etiquettes of bowing (rukūʿ)
His words on the matter are: “What is obligatory in bowing is merely to bend until the hands reach the knees, whereas the sunnah in it is … .”
I reply: That is not enough. One must also observe the composure (ṭumaʾnīnah) that the ḥadīth of the man who prayed poorly and other reports expressly command.
What is remarkable is that the author himself had already affirmed this earlier, on page 25 of his book, and even quoted some of the very ḥadīths just mentioned. It is as though he forgot all of that when he reproduced this statement from al-Muhadhdhab and its commentary, 31/406. Allah’s help is sought.
