that the eater and the eaten are one and the same, the husband and the wife he penetrates are one and the same, the litigant and the judge are one and the same, and the party for and against whom testimony is given are one and the same. Such claims represent the very peak of foolishness and error.
The Shaykh – may Allah sanctify his soul – said: It is related about one of them that he would have intercourse with his own son while asserting, “I am Allah, Lord of all realms.”1 May Allah curse a faction whose deity, the object of its worship, is none other than the partner it copulates with and lays out upon its bedding.
Ibn al-Qayyim – Allah have mercy on him – said in his rhymed Nūniyyah about this sect:
They do not spare their “god” from man or jinn,
from tree or beast that roams the plain;
He is their food, their clothes, the scent they breathe,
The sound that reaches every ear and brain.
They even say He is the mate they bed,
The slaughtered beast, the lewd fornicator’s stain.
He is the one they worship; so declare:
“Glory be to You, O God of endless fame!”
O people whose adored is whom they mount –
Where is the Lord, and where the battle’s lane?
O people whose mere fraction of misbelief
Would make the sum of all denial seem but vain.
