Tashih Hadith Iftar al-Saim Qabla Safarahi Baad al-FajrNasir al-Din al-Albani

Authentic reports that corroborate the hadith:

What strengthens the hadith even further is that a number of the Companions—as well as others—acted in accordance with its content, in opposition to those who forbid breaking the fast after setting out on a journey. I shall therefore mention the narrations I have come across, so that the benefit may be complete:

  1. From al-Lajlāj—some copies read, “al-Lajlāj and others”—who said: “We would travel with ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with him) a distance of three miles; he would shorten the prayer and break his fast.” Ibn Abī Shaybah recorded it in his Muṣannaf.
