—that his report is munkar and rejected.
Here we must pause to ask: Did the esteemed Shaykh al-Habashī actually consult the versions transmitted by these trustworthy narrators, or did they escape his notice?
Answer to the Fourth Issue
As for the fourth point—the discrepancy in what is reported from Saʿīd ibn Abī Maryam—the reply can, for the most part, be inferred from the previous section, yet it still requires some clarification. I therefore say:
None of those who conveyed this ḥadith from Ibn Abī Maryam, or from anyone else—whether reliable or weak—ever stated that the incident occurred on “the day of doubt,” the day immediately preceding Ramadan, except for Yahyā ibn Ayyūb al-ʿAllāf mentioned earlier. His report conflicts with the narrations of the other reliable transmitters cited before him—ʿUthmān al-Dārimī, Ismāʿīl ibn Isḥāq, and al-Bukhārī—for all of them narrated from Ibn Abī Maryam that the incident took place in Ramadan. The same was related by ʿĪsā ibn Minā from Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar, and he too affirmed it.
