⦗26⦘ He reports from him: “I loathe the drum—the kubbah—and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade it.”
Al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Ḥajar likewise ruled the report sound in al-Talkhīṣ 4/202, documenting it on the authority of the previously mentioned Companions: Ibn ʿAbbās, Ibn ʿUmar, and Qays ibn Saʿd ibn ʿUbādah.
Hadith 6. ʿImrān ibn Ḥuṣayn narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “In my community there will be pelting with stones, transformation, and the earth swallowing people.”
They asked, “O Messenger of Allah, when will that happen?” He replied, “When musical instruments become widespread, songstresses abound, and wine is consumed.”
Al-Tirmidhī recorded it in the Book of Tribulations, no. 2213; Ibn Abī al-Dunyā in Dhamm al-Malāhī, fol. 1/2; Abū ʿAmr al-Dānī in al-Sunan al-Wārida fī al-Fitan, fols. 39/1 and 40/2; and Ibn al-Najjār in the supplement to Tārīkh Baghdād 18/252—all through various chains leading to ʿAbd Allah b. ʿAbd al-Quddūs, who said: “Al-Aʿmash narrated to me from Hilāl b. Yasāf, from him (ʿImrān).”
Al-Tirmidhī added, “This ḥadith has also been transmitted from al-Aʿmash through ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Ṣābit from the Prophet ﷺ as a mursal report, and it is singular (gharīb).”
I say: Its narrators are reliable except for ʿAbd Allah b. ʿAbd al-Quddūs. Al-Ḥāfiẓ said, “He is truthful, though accused of Rāfiḍī leanings, and he also made mistakes.”
