Bishr b. Bakr narrated to us, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Yazīd b. Jābir, through the chain cited earlier, on the authority of Abū ʿĀmir—or Abū Mālik—traced back to the Prophet, who said:
“There will surely be people from my community who will declare khazz and silk lawful.” He then mentioned other matters and added, “Others among them will be transformed into apes and swine until the Day of Resurrection.”
I say: This isnād is sound and uninterrupted, exactly as Ibn al-Qayyim affirmed in Ighāthat al-Lahfān 1/260, following his teacher in Ibtāl al-Taḥlīl p. 27. Yet the specific wording that constitutes the point of evidence is not stated here; he merely hinted at it with the phrase “he mentioned other matters.” That wording appears explicitly in the narration of two other trustworthy ḥuffāẓ.
The first is ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Ibrāhīm, known as Duhaym, who said: “Bishr narrated to us” with the wording already quoted from Bukhārī:
“They will deem illicit sexual intercourse, silk, wine, and musical instruments lawful.” Ḥadīth.
Abū Bakr al-Ismāʿīlī recorded it in his al-Mustakhraj ʿalā al-Ṣaḥīḥ, as cited in Fatḥ al-Bārī 10/56 and Taghlīq al-Taʿlīq 5/19, and al-Bayhaqī transmitted it through al-Ismāʿīlī’s route in al-Sunan 3/272.
The second transmitter is ʿĪsā b. Aḥmad al-ʿAsqalānī⦗1⦘, who said: “Bishr b. Bakr narrated to us” with the same report, except that he read it as khazz—spelled with two dotted letters—whereas the stronger reading is with two undotted letters, as in Bukhārī’s narration and others. See Fatḥ 10/55.
Ibn ʿAsākir reproduced the ḥadīth in Tārīkh Dimashq 19/152 through the route of the ḥāfiẓ
