That Mūsā, too, is a trustworthy ḥāfiẓ; his biography appears in Siyar 14/261. Al-Daʿlaj Muḥammad b. Ismāʿīl b. Mihrān al-Ismāʿīlī is mentioned alongside him; he is likewise a reliable, firmly established ḥāfiẓ, and he is not the same al-Ismāʿīlī who compiled the Mustakhraj.
Third: Al-Ṭabarānī states in Musnad al-Shāmiyyīn 1/334/588: “Muḥammad b. Yazīd b. al-Aṣl narrated to us; from ʿAbd al-Ṣamad al-Dimashqī; Hishām b. ʿAmmār narrated to us …”
This Muḥammad b. Yazīd is given a biography in Ibn ʿAsākir’s History of Damascus 16/124, where several transmitters are cited from him, and it is noted that he died in 269 AH.
Fourth: Al-Ismāʿīlī relates in his Mustakhraj on al-Ṣaḥīḥ—and al-Bayhaqī transmits it from him in his Sunan 10/221—saying: “Al-Ḥasan b. Sufyān narrated to us; Hishām b. ʿAmmār narrated to us …”
Al-Ḥasan b. Sufyān, the Khurasānī from Naysābūr, is a reliable ḥāfiẓ, one of the teachers of Ibn Khuzaymah, Ibn Ḥibbān, and other leading ḥuffāẓ; his biography is in Siyar 14/157–162 and in Tadhkirat al-Ḥuffāẓ.
There are four other transmitters who heard the report from Hishām; Ibn Ḥajar cites them in Taghlīq al-Taʿlīq 5/17–19, and al-Dhahabī quotes some of them in Siyar 21/157 and 23/7.
Moreover, Hishām was not the sole transmitter of this ḥadīth—nor was his teacher Ṣadaqah b. Khālid—for both have corroborating narrations. Abū Dāwūd records in his Sunan 4039: “ʿAbd al-Wahhāb b. Najdah narrated to us …”
