Tahrim Alat al-TarabNasir al-Din al-Albani

Ibn al-Jawzī continues (p. 245):

“This, then, is the stated position of the Shāfiʿī authorities and the truly devout among them; only a few latecomers—men of scant learning whose whims gained the upper hand—granted any license in the matter. The jurists of our own school [the Ḥanbalīs] have declared: ‘The testimony of a singer or a dancer is inadmissible.’ Allah alone grants success.”

al-Jawzi took the statement cited above; it is found there, pp. 31–32, in an abridged form.
