54 – Khalaf ibn Hisham narrated to us; Abu ʿAwanah informed us, from Mansur, from al-Shaʿbi, from Abu Karimah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “A guest’s first night is a right that every Muslim must honor. If morning finds the guest still in his courtyard, that right becomes a debt upon him; the guest may, if he wishes, claim it, or, if he wishes, forgo it.”
