43 – Abū Saʿīd al-Qurashī recited to me:
A wayfarer whose arrival roused the dogs to bark was seeking a place to spend the night, yet
Between him and shelter hung the night’s deep curtains of darkness, torn and dense.
I lifted my fire for him; when its glow guided his steps,
I chastened my dogs so the fiercest of them would not growl. ⦗40⦘
He lay down and had no need to press on through the night’s remainder—
A night of genuine repose, from which every trace of hardship had fled.
