3 – Ahmad ibn Jamil narrated to us; ‘Abd Allah ibn al-Mubarak informed us; ‘Abd al-Hamid ibn Ja‘far informed us, from Sa‘id al-Maqburi, from Abu Shurayh al-Ka‘bi, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“The guest’s rightful gift is one day and one night, and full hospitality lasts for three days. It is not lawful for anyone to stay with his brother until he drives him to sin.”
They asked, “And how does he drive him to sin?” He replied, “He stays with him while the host has nothing left with which to entertain him.”
