23 – Muḥammad b. Ṣāliḥ al-Qurashī narrated to me; Muḥammad b. ʿUmar informed me; ʿAbd Allāh b. Nāfiʿ related to me, from his father, who said:
“ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿUmar once passed by me beside these fortified towers while speaking to the son of Saʿd. He said, ‘O Nāfiʿ, this is the uṭum of Dulaym ⦗30⦘, his grandfather. His crier used to announce, one day every year, “Whoever wants fat and meat, let him come to the house of Dulaym.” When Dulaym died, the crier of ʿUbādah made the same call; after ʿUbādah passed away, the crier of Saʿd repeated it. Later I met Qays b. ʿUbādah, and he was the most generous of people.’”
