19 – Muhammad b. Salih al-Qurashi related to me; Muhammad b. ‘Umar al-Aslami informed me; Muhammad b. Yahya b. Sahl narrated to me, from his father, from Rafi‘ b. Khadij, who said:

Abu ‘Ubaydah arrived accompanied by ‘Umar b. al-Khattab—may Allah be pleased with him—and said to Qays b. Sa‘d, “I solemnly oblige you not to slaughter.” When Qays nevertheless slaughtered and word of it reached the Prophet ﷺ, he remarked, “He belongs to a house of generosity,” referring to the expedition of al-Khabat.
