And the Most High said: “Glory be to Him who took His servant by night from the Sacred Mosque to the Farthest Mosque, whose surroundings We have blessed.” This is Jerusalem. His words to the Children of Israel, “Enter this town and eat freely wherever you please,” refer to Jerusalem. Noah offered his sacrifice upon the Rock of Jerusalem. His words, “Enter the Holy Land which Allah has assigned to you,” refer to Jerusalem.
Adam offered his sacrifice in Jerusalem, and Allah Most High dispersed the kingdom for David in Jerusalem. Allah Most High accepted the vow of the wife of ʿImrān in Jerusalem, and He bestowed David’s kingdom upon him in Jerusalem. The earth’s stony tract is in Jerusalem. The whole earth will be laid waste except Jerusalem. Allah Most High will gather the prophets in Jerusalem, and the Trumpet will be blown in Jerusalem. The angels will form ranks around Jerusalem. Allah Most High will forgive those who come to Jerusalem. The Fire will blaze in Jerusalem, and the gate of heaven is open towards Jerusalem. The souls of the believers will fly to their bodies in Jerusalem.
The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “The best of my nation are those who migrate, time after time, to Jerusalem. Whoever performs ablution and prays two or four units of prayer there will be forgiven for what came before. Whoever prays there will emerge free of sins, as on the day his mother bore him. For every hair, he will have a hundred lights with Allah Most High on the Day of Resurrection, and he will receive the reward of an accepted, righteous pilgrimage. Allah Most High will grant him, alongside the prophets, one who remembers Him or a thankful heart. He will be protected from sins, and Allah Most High will gather him with the prophets—may Allah’s blessings be upon them all.”
Whoever patiently endures Jerusalem’s hardships and adversity will have Allah bring him his provision from before him and behind him, from his right and his left, and from above him and beneath him. He will eat abundantly and enter Paradise.
