to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was lying on his cloak in the shade of the Kaʿbah. We said, “Will you not supplicate to Allah for us? Will you not seek victory for us?” He sat up, his face reddening, and said, “By Allah, those before you were seized: a trench would be dug for one of them, a saw placed upon his head, and he would be sawn in two—yet that did not turn him away from his religion. Or his flesh would be combed with iron combs, separating muscle from sinew—yet that did not turn him away from his religion. Allah will surely bring this matter to completion until a rider will travel from Ṣanʿāʾ to Ḥaḍramawt fearing none but Allah—or the wolf for his sheep—but you are impatient.” Related by the Two Shaykhs.
Al-Thawri narrated—from Ibn al-Munkadir—from Jābir—who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked me, “Do you have any anmaṭ (patterned blankets or cushions)?” I replied, “Messenger of Allah, how could I ever have anmaṭ?” He said, “Yet you shall have them.” Jābir continued, “Nowadays I say to my wife, ‘Remove your anmaṭ from my sight,’ and she says, ‘Did not the Messenger of Allah ﷺ tell us that you would acquire anmaṭ after him?’—so I leave them.” Related by the Two Shaykhs.
Hishām ibn ʿUrwah narrated—from his father—from ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Zubayr—from Sufyān ibn Abī Zuhayr al-Numayrī—who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, “Yemen will be opened, and some people will drive their camels there, moving with their families and those who obey them, yet Medina would be better for them if only they knew. Then Syria will be opened, and some people will drive their camels there, moving with their families and those who obey them, yet Medina would be better for them if only they knew. Then Iraq will be opened, and some people will drive their camels there, moving with their families and those who obey them, yet Medina would be better for them if only they knew.” Both al-Bukhārī and Muslim related this hadith.
