down his beard. We were showered with rain that day, the next day, and the day after, until the following Friday. Then that Bedouin—or someone else—stood up and said, “Messenger of Allah, the buildings are collapsing and the dependents are going hungry; pray to Allah for us.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his hands and said, “O Allah, around us and not upon us.” He would point with his hands to a patch of cloud, and it would part, until Medina was left like a hollow in the midst of clear sky.
