Maʿqil ibn ʿUbayd Allāh reported—through Abū al-Zubayr—from Jābir that a man came to the Prophet ﷺ asking for food. The Prophet gave him half a wasq (measure) of barley. The man, his wife, and their guests kept eating from it until he eventually measured what was left. He then went back to the Prophet ﷺ, who said, “Had you not measured it out, you would have continued to eat from it and it would have kept providing for you.”

Umm Mālik used to present clarified butter to the Prophet ﷺ in a ʿukka (skin flask). Later her children would come asking for relish, though the household had nothing. She would go to the very flask she had offered to the Prophet and find ghee in it, and it continued to supply relish for her children until she squeezed it completely dry. She then went to the Prophet ﷺ, who asked, “Did you squeeze it out?” She replied, “Yes.” He said, “Had you left it alone, it would still be yielding.” Muslim recorded this report.

Ṭalḥah ibn Muṣarrif related—through Abū Ṣāliḥ—from Abū Hurayrah—that we were once with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey. The people’s provisions ran out, to the point that one of them was about to slaughter some of his mounts. ʿUmar said, “Messenger of Allah, why not gather whatever supplies remain and pray for blessing upon them?” He agreed. Those who had wheat brought their wheat, and those who had dates brought their dates. He supplicated, and they filled their provision-bags to the brim. At that, the Prophet ﷺ declared, “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah. No servant meets Allah bearing these two testimonies, free of doubt, except that he enters Paradise.” Muslim also recorded this.

A similar, more detailed version was narrated by al-Muṭṭalib ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ḥanṭab—from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī ʿAmrah al-Anṣārī—from his father (may Allah be pleased with him). He added: “There was not a single container in the army that was not filled, and an equal amount still remained.” The Prophet ﷺ laughed until his molars showed and said, “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah; no one meets Allah…"
