Al-Khaṭīb said, “He was truthful.” (2)
He died in Shaʿbān 340 AH in Baghdad.
The nisba al-Bardhaʿī refers to the craft of making a bardhaʿa (saddle-pad). (3) As for the attribution to the town of Bardhaʿa, some say it is spelled with an undotted dāl.
