the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He returned with him and, once they had entered, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Bring whatever you have, O Umm Sulaym.” She produced the bread, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered that it be crumbled. Umm Sulaym then squeezed the contents of a small leather skin of butter over it, turning it into a seasoned dish. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ pronounced over it whatever Allah willed him to say, after which he said, “Admit ten.” Ten men were admitted; they ate until they were full. He kept admitting groups until everyone had eaten and was satisfied—seventy or eighty men in all. Agreed upon. A similar incident has already been mentioned in the narration of Jābir concerning the Battle of the Trench.
Sulaymān al-Taymī narrated—through Abū al-ʿAlā—from Samurah ibn Jundub—that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was brought a large bowl containing food. People kept eating from it in succession from early morning until noon; one group would rise and another would sit. A man asked Samurah, “Did it keep replenishing?” He replied, “Why are you surprised? It was only being supplied from up there,” and he pointed toward the sky. Yazīd ibn Hārūn likewise pointed toward the sky. This is a sound hadith.
Zayd ibn al-Habbāb narrated—from al-Ḥusayn ibn Wāqid—who said: ʿAbd Allah ibn Buraydah related to me from his father that Salmān brought a gift to the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet asked, “Whose servant are you?” He replied, “I belong to a certain people.” The Prophet said, “Ask them to draw up a contract of manumission for you.” He said, “So they set my price at such-and-such a number of date-palms that I must plant for them and tend until they bear fruit.” The Prophet ﷺ then came and planted all the palms with his own hand except one, which ʿUmar planted. Every palm bore fruit that very year except that one. The Prophet ﷺ asked, “Who planted this one?” They said, “ʿUmar.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then replanted it with his own hand, and it too bore fruit in the same year. Its transmitters are trustworthy.
Ibn Abī ʿUmar and Ibn Abī al-Khayr informed us in writing, through Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad and a number of others, that Fāṭimah bint ʿAbd Allah reported to them, saying: Ibn Raydah informed us
